Pan de Muerto Workshop. 6:30 - 8:30 pm. Make the special dough
for Pan
de Muertos. Create shapes to honor the deceased and bake it while you
share coffee and cinnamon tea with "dead bread." $20 per person (includes
materials and refreshments).

Paper Ofrendas and Corona Making.
Learn to make the special coronas that are placed on graves all over Mexico.
Julia Mesa Thing and her daughter, Thelma, two Kumeyaay artisans from
Tecate will join with Mary Lou Valencia, a San Diego artisan, who will
teach paper ofrendas. Paper ofrendas are personal offerings created from
a mixed media of materials provided, using sponges, stamps and any personal
mementos and photos you wish to provide. $15 per adult, $7 per child

altar offering will be built to commemorate the Twin Towers.

Art for the Dead Altar Tour
An opportunity to visit a variety of home and community sites where altar
offerings created by a variety of local artists will be exhibited. This
is a car caravan to different areas in San Diego. There will be viewing
of Muerto art in the home with a chance for discussion with the various
artists. We will vote on best altar at the Voz
Alta site. Please call (619) 264-4083 for reservations. There will
be a reception following the tour. Meet at Sherman Heights Community Center,
2260 Island Avenue. $5 per person.

View altars from different city schools who have won the honor of building
